Junior Maile has been singing since he was a baby, and the songs he performs in this Christmas-themed episode of Mormon Channel Daily are a few of his favorites.
The hymn “Silent Night” was written by a Catholic priest on a night when the church organ had broken. The priest crafted a song that could be played on guitar, as Junior plays it here. That song, along with “The First Noel,” remind those who hear them that this time of year isn’t filled with light and love thanks to twinkle lights or gifts, but thanks to our Savior, Jesus Christ.
“I know a lot of times we get caught up in buying presents and just the stress of making sure the kids are happy on Christmas in morning,” says Junior. “But in our home we try our best to make sure that it’s centered on Christ. That’s why these are my favorite songs to sing.”
Mormon Channel Studio is a weekly video series featuring hymn arrangements and original music by LDS musicians from across the nation.
