Have you ever pulled a prank that went wrong? Jill Swensen has, and she tells us all about it in this episode of Story Mic.
In the summer before they started junior high school, Jill and her friend decided to curb their boredom by throwing water balloons from an overpass onto passing cars below. They couldn’t time their tosses quite right, though. Realizing they were wasting balloons, they then began practicing aiming for other objects with what Jill calls “pebbles.”
“It wasn’t like a chunk of granite. They were small—so I thought,” she says.
It wasn’t long before one rock crashed through a car windshield and cut the driver’s hand. He was furious.
“Words that I had not heard in real life were coming out of his mouth,” Jill recalls with a laugh.
