Mormon Channel is aware that many of our listeners are suffering from mental illnesses, including depression. We want to share an interesting story of struggle and success that was told in a New York Times article titled “It’s Not Always Depression.” The article is a part of a series about psychotherapy written by therapist Hilary Jacobs Hendel.
Hendel describes a patient named Brian. Brian suffered for years from deep depression. He had been through cognitive behavioral therapy, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, supportive therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. He had tried several medications. Nothing helped. Hendel helped Brian discover that his feelings were the result of something he had not thought of.
