Money can be difficult to manage, but with discipline and faith in God’s help, anyone can learn to live within his or her means.

Robert D. Hales and his wife, Mary, learned as newlyweds. Elder Hales was a member of the US Air Force at the time and was unable to be home for Christmas. When he returned home, he and his wife spotted a beautiful dress in a store window. Elder Hales offered to buy it for Mary.

After Mary tried the dress on, a store clerk returned it to the window display. Elder Hales was confused, and Mary explained that it was a beautiful dress, but they simply couldn’t afford it.

“I have learned that the three most loving words are ‘I love you,’ and the four most caring words for those we love are ‘We can’t afford it,’” said Elder Hales.

In this episode, we discuss several ways to live within your means. What are your favorite ways to keep yourself in check when it comes to spending and saving? Leave your ideas in the comment section below.
