Church leaders have advised every person to have a storage of food and water they can draw upon when they need it.
Elder L. Tom Perry taught, “Just as it is important to prepare ourselves spiritually, we must also prepare ourselves for our temporal needs. Each of us needs to take the time to ask ourselves, ‘What preparation should I make to care for my needs and the needs of my family?’"
Don’t worry if you have nothing set aside for an emergency; you can start small right away.
Buy a little extra at the grocery store every time you go. For example, buy one canned item on your regular trips to the store. Or if you need milk or juice, consider also picking up a gallon of water. Remember to store food that you would enjoy eating.
