Finding Opportunities to Serve

A service sign6:17

If you’ve been searching for a way to incorporate more service into your life, press play on today’s episode.

Remember that you don’t need a special calling to serve in order to help others; the scriptures tell us, “If ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work” (D&C 4:3). So if you have the desire to serve, don’t wait.

Start within your own family. Call or text someone who might need your help or might feel lonely. Next, reach out to your neighbors. If you don’t know your neighbors, serving them is a great way to get to know them.

You can also reach out in your community. If you know of a group within your community that hosts charity events or carries out service projects, join it. You could even start one yourself and invite others to participate.

Dieter F. Uchtdorf said, “As we lose ourselves in the service of others, we discover our own lives and our own happiness.”
