As the seasons change this time of year, it’s a great opportunity to reflect on the world around us. In fact, Gordon B. Hinckley reminds us to “walk with faith, rejoicing in the beauties of nature” (“If Thou Art Faithful,” Ensign, Nov. 1984, 92).
If you haven’t yet seen our popular Our Home video yet, it’s a must-watch. The best part about it is that you, our loyal followers, made it happen by contributing your very own footage of people enjoying the things the earth has to offer.
We hope the video inspires you and those you share it with to recognize the beauty of life and nature. What a privilege it is to live on this earth created with our needs in mind.
“Sometimes we forget to thank Him for all the bounties of the earth we enjoy daily,” one viewer commented, speaking of Heavenly Father’s kindness.
“He is so generous. How can we not be grateful?” another asked.
In addition to footage for the video, we asked our followers for photos of how they enjoy and care for the earth. We felt the love they have for life here on earth as we flipped through countless submissions. Here are a few:
One line from the video declares, “The state of the human soul and the environment are interconnected.”
Another viewer echoed that thought by adding, “If we take care of our planet, then we are taking care of ourselves. Heavenly Father needs us to do our part.”
So is it only out of gratitude that we should respect and nurture our planet? In fact, that respect should also come from a desire to take care of our friends, family, and selves. There are so many good reasons to show love and respect to the earth however we can.
