Conversations: Elder and Sister Rasband

November 19, 2015

The Conversations episode we are highlighting this week features Elder Ronald A. Rasband and his wife, Melanie. At the time of the interview, Elder Rasband was in the Presidency of the Seventy. He is now one of the newest members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

This episode gives great insight into the life of the new Apostle. Elder and Sister Rasband discuss their childhood, both having grown up in the Church but having unique experiences. Elder Rasband discusses his mission in New York City and how later he served as mission president in New York City alongside Sister Rasband.

They also share how they met and fell in love at the University of Utah and how Sister Rasband knew she should marry Elder Rasband. They started a family quickly after getting married and made balance an important priority in their lives. They have thrived because they have always focused on putting the Lord first and keeping the commandments.

Elder Rasband talks about his work for Jon Huntsman and the incredible mentor he was to teach him how to succeed in business and in life. He also shares what it was like working under the Brethren in the Presidency of the Seventy and the close relationship he had with President Packer.

Elder Rasband bears powerful testimony of the prophets and the importance of following them. Sister Rasband also adds the importance of listening to the Holy Ghost and trusting in the Lord, and, as she says, He will help you through the difficult times.

There are so many wonderful stories and insights in this episode that we can’t share them all. You can listen to the full episode here as well as to a Mormon Channel Daily episode that was recently done on the Rasbands here.
