Into All the World is a 30-minute program interviewing current and recently-returned stake and mission presidents from around the world about the Church in their area.

President Valentin Nunez talks a little about himself and his family. He talks about Chile, its people, and its culture. They also talk about the missionaries and their work there, and they testify of the truth of the work.

Facts about the LDS Church in Chile

  • Chile has over 550,000 LDS members, 9 missions, and 1 Temple and 1 announced.
  • On Dec. 25, 1925, Elder Melvin J. Ballard dedicated South America for preaching the gospel.
  • The First Presidency authorized the Argentine Mission to send missionaries to Chile in May 1955, but it was not until June 1956 that Verle M. Allred and Joseph C. Bentley arrived in Santiago to begin missionary work there.
  • On October 8,1961, the Chilean Mission was organized, with 12 branches and 1,136 members.
  • Chile currently has one temple in Santiago, dedicated Sept. 15, 1983. In General Conference, October 2009, President Thomas S. Monson announced another temple to bebuilt in Concepcion, Chile.
  • According to the Church News, 3% of the total population of Chile is LDS, the highest percentage in Latin America.
